Happy Canada Day! Welcome to the July 2024 edition of our Impact Newsletter. We hope this email finds you well and enjoying some summer fun. Canada Day is always a fabulous opportunity to celebrate our amazing country. Canada Day celebrations in Fergus and Elora will happen on July 1, 2024 with a full day of fun activities for all ages. Here are some highlights:
Elora Events
- Pancake Breakfast: Start the day with a hearty breakfast from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 1 MacDonald Square, hosted by the Elora Volunteer Firefighters Association
- Soap Box Derby: Watch or participate in the derby from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on David & Geddes Street
- Flag Raising and Parade: The CW Amalgamation flag raising ceremony takes place at 9:30 AM, followed by the Dominion Day Parade at 11:00 AM, starting from the Jefferson Elora Community Centre
- Lunch and Entertainment: Enjoy a free hotdog lunch and music by DJ Spenny at Bissell Park from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a duck race at 1:30 PM (Township of Centre Wellington)
Fergus Events
- Evening Celebrations: Head over to the CW Community Sportsplex in Fergus for evening festivities starting at 7:00 PM. Enjoy Bollywood dancing, face painting, henna hand painting, and other entertainment by the Seva Spirit Foundation
- Fireworks: The day concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:30 PM, accompanied by live music and food from the Groovy Grilled Cheese Food Truck (Township of Centre Wellington) (Downtown Fergus)

Bank of Canada Update
Real Estate wise, there are a lot of exciting things to share. In June, the Bank of Canada announced a reduction in their prime rate, for the first time in 4 years. Since March of 2022, we’ve seen a record 10 interest rate increases. The Bank of Canada lowered key rates by 25 basis points to 4.75%. The next interest rate announcement will come on July 24th. The Fergus and Elora real estate markets are characterized by increased listings and a variety of available properties, providing potential buyers with a broad selection of inventory. The sale-to-list price ratio has remained high at around 99.25%, showing that homes are selling close to their asking prices, albeit with a slight year-over-year increase.
