5 Questions with Emilie Sherratt

We are so happy to have had Emilie Sherratt participate in our 5 Questions community highlight project. She is a very talented interior decorator & home stager, and also a pretty awesome human being!

It is always a pleasure working together. Home Staging is an important part of marking and selling a home and we know that our listings will look their very best with the help and advice that Emilie provides our clients!

Having been born and raised in Centre Wellington – she has some pretty amazing things to say about living and working in our community.

Please enjoy reading her answers below!

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your business?

My name is Emilie Sherratt and I was born and raised in Fergus. I have major hometown pride- Centre Wellington is an amazing place to live, play and work!

I began my career as an Interior Decorator 10 years ago. I spent 5 years learning the ropes and honing my skills as a decorator. And although I loved decorating for my clients, I recognized a need for home staging services in Centre Wellington. I then made the decision to shift the focus of my business to home staging.

I absolutely love staging because the transformation is dramatic and my clients are always so happy and grateful. And the best part of my job is meeting so many amazing people within our community and seeing homes of all shapes, sizes, and styles!

Because I have lived and worked here for so many years, I know the target audience of buyers for any given home. I help my clients minimize distractions and decorate their home to the tastes of these buyers, so that the true features of the home can shine.

What do you enjoy most about living and working in Centre Wellington?

Working in Centre Wellington is amazing. I get to help my fellow community members prepare their homes for the real estate market. People are always very friendly and happy to have my help! Many of my clients have become my friends.

This is a wonderful community to raise a family. There is no shortage of amazing parks and family activities. There are a lot of options for after-school recreation. We couldn’t have picked a better community to raise our children.

What makes this community unique?

What I love about Centre Wellington is its strong sense of community. Whether an individual has grown up here or moved here from another area, CW draws people together through community events, arts, culture, restaurants, great shops and landmarks. Although our community is growing, we have maintained a “small town” feel, promoting friendliness and support for one another and our local businesses.

Can you share some of your favourite things to do in Centre Wellington?

My family and I enjoy biking along the Elora Cateract Trail out towards the Belwood Shand Dam. We also love to walk downtown Fergus, grab a tasty treat from one of the local shops, admire Templin Gardens and walk the steps down to the river. On rainy days, the kids and I will head to the library where we’re always welcomed by familiar friends and library staff.

Every month has fun events happening, but October in CW is our favourite month! We never miss the Elora Monster March or downtown Fergus Halloween Haunt Street Walk. And we absolutely love Tim Murton’s Twilight Zoo. This community can’t be beat!

What advice would you give to someone thinking of moving to Centre Wellington?

If you’re new to CW, don’t be afraid to get involved. Submerse yourself in all that our community has to offer! It’s a great way to meet people and start life-long friendships.

Help keep our business community thriving by shopping local as much as possible! Support the small businesses within the community- you won’t find a better product/service anywhere.
