Can you tell us a little about yourself and your business?

I am the Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington. We provide mentorship programs for youth ages 5-18 and hope that every child feels connected to a caring and supportive community; they believe in themselves and their ability to reach their full potential.

What do you enjoy most about living and working in Centre Wellington?

Growing up in CW and now raising my family here, the most valuable part of Centre Wellington to me is the people. We create amazing opportunities to be involved, meet new people, support others, be supported, celebrate each other, collaborate on great initiatives and the bonds grow everyday as we do all of this.

What makes this community so unique?

I struggled with this question because there are so many things that make this community unique. Again, for me this boils down to the people – the driven leaders who are the backbone and drive great community events, festivals, businesses and then the wonderful community members who come out in droves and participate, volunteer, donate etc. The backdrop isn’t too shabby either! We have a gorgeous parks, rivers, patios and historic homes and village cores!

What are some of your favourite things to do in Centre Wellington?

All of the traditional bits that our community puts on – Fireworks, Canada Day Soap Box Derby, Fergus Scottish Festival, Riverfest, etc. as well as being a tourist in our own backyard – shopping downtown, exploring the Grand River, etc.

What advice would you give to someone planning to move to Centre Wellington?

Get involved! There is so much to do here and so many great people to meet! Explore… we can’t wait to meet you!
